“I Honestly Love You”

When I was 12 years old, I met my first love, Gorman. We did everything together. We watched TV and played together, although I always beat him at Stratego. Even my little sister liked him. We traveled together on family vacations to Ocean City or Wildwood. He really liked to listen to The Bee Gees and Donna Summer and his favorite TV show was “Eight Is Enough.” We once had a big fight over who was the coolest of “Charlie’s Angels.” I insisted that Sabrina, the smart one, played by Kate Jackson, was the coolest, but Gorman was all about Farrah Fawcett’s hair. In time, Gorman and I grew apart. I was reunited with him when I moved home after college. He was the same, albeit older, but somehow I had moved on. Now, almost three decades later, Gorman has come to stay at my place. By the way, did I mention that Gorman was a stuffed animal monkey I got when I was 12 as a Christmas gift? He wears a clown outfit, even to this day. 😉
